Rakuwaria

Since I've start the “clay-adventure”, my life has been enriched by a new source of exciting activities. June brought with it a lovely event called Rakuwaria, organized by Ed Knops and Family in a charming small village Sevenum/ south Netherlands. It's a kind of meeting place and unlimited info/ inspiration source for pottery enthusiasts as well as for novices interested in Raku. Let me try to explain this term: Raku is a firing process in which work is removed from the kiln at bright red heat and subjected to post-firing reduction (or smoking) by placing in containers. This blackens raw clay and creates cracks in glaze. And this looks amazing!

Our little “crazy troupe” consist of 4 women from the Tonimpulse clay studio had a great time over there. Two days in a "Woodstock" atmosphere filled with demonstrations, diverse workshops, products/materials sale and encounters with interesting people. What more could a true “potterist” desire? We returned home tired but happy and with tons and tons of new inspirations. Below you can see a few photos with diverse Raku-Objects taken during this event. Enjoy.
