Every year in May over and over again: Happy Birthday to you dear Renata! Slowly I am running out of nice ideas to celebrate my big day. You must know, I am absolutely not a fan of birthday parties. I see it this way: this special day is...mine. No obligations, no social conventions, no boring activities, no gifts to give me head aches: what to do with them?! Mostly I celebrate it by offering myself something out of the ordinary. In 2015 it was a lovely hot air balloon ride over an amazing landscape of the Bliesgau, southeast region of Saarland/ Germany. This area is beautiful from the ground already but seen from a bird's perspective it's spectacular, although not in an impressive way. It's more the warm, peaceful harmony of the rural landscape characterized by orchards, precious beech forests, dry grasslands, meadows... which create this magic. No less impressive than the landscape is the whole 'procedure' which accompanies this adventure: shipping the equipment to the take-off place, helping with the inflation & deflation of the balloon, lazing around in the grass while waiting for the wind to come, the beer baptism once the landing was successfully accomplished...In my case there was still an extra bonus: flying in splendid weather conditions over a changing landscape at sunset.
