This Summer I have realised that although I have been living in Germany/ Saarland for half my life, I hardly know this country. Even the most interesting places in the immediate neighborhood are unknown to me. The same goes for France and Luxembourg which are just round the corner. Time to change it. Our very first one-day excursion led us to a small charming French town Colmar, the hidden gem of the French Alsace, situated between the Vosges and the Rhine. This city with its candy-colored, half-timbered houses that line the canals, little bridges overspilling flower boxes, splendid churches, museums, funny decorated shops, ice cream stands, and crêperies....charmed us immediately.
