Clothes refashioning
February 2019/ by Renata
Winter is always my favorite season for sewing-activities. Since January I have been adventuring into the exciting world of T-Shirt refashioning. I get the impression that worldwide there is no single person whose wardrobe is not overcrowded with tops “genre”: too old to be wear in public but not yet old enough for the dustbin. There are tons of creative ways to transform old tops into fantastic “new” pieces. Sometimes the transformation could be dramatic: from a boxy, over sized basic T-Shirt to an adorable fitted peplum style shirt or into a ruffled top with a gorgeous asymmetrical neckline...Sometimes cute little bits of lace are enough to make of the shirt an eye catcher. I myself favor the mixed media technique and I love to experiment with fabric applications, crocheted pieces, metallic accents, buttons, beads...Meaning, I usually leave the basic T-Shirt the way it is and refashion it by adjusting diverse decorations. I must admit, my projects are not the quickest ones: from casual to upscale in just minutes. Sometimes I need a few evenings to finish the work. But that's fine for me because in my case the biggest source of joy is not the end result but the making process itself. Over the next few months I'll introduce you to new T-Shirt each week. You are very welcome to join me here.
